Kickingbird is based in a “quiet treehouse … near a former Barcelona textile homestead,” and the Spanish foundry’s first release is Pop Manta, described as “Morris Fuller Benton meets Roy Lichtenstein,” with neo-grotesque shapes “set to a Pop Art beat.” With 658 total glyphs, the enormous character set includes letters and alternates, symbols, speech bubbles and everything needed to typeset more than 70 languages.
