Acuta: Apotheosis of Angular Accessibility
Elena Albertoni - designer of Dolce and Dyna, two of my favorite scripts - is back with a new release, the distinctive and extremely legible 14-style text family Acuta. Including western & central European character sets, small caps, an italic and accompanying swash alternates, various alternate figures and, at the heavy end of the 7-weight family, an extremely sturdy fat weight, Acuta is not only ideal for text setting but also interesting and consistent enough to use for headlines and other display settings. Ink traps, well-thought-out ligatures, large x-height and a heavy slab serif also qualify it for use at very small settings; this workhorse would be an interesting family to use in newspaper or magazine publishing.
Acuta is currently on sale for 30% off; the whole family - usually $420 for the full 14 fonts - is only $294 for a limited time.
